Behind Mango Getaway
Before Mango Getaway was a brand, it was how we chose to experience life together.
We’re Rouxhan and Olivia — the couple behind Mango Getaway.
The beginning
It started on a sailboat.
Our story didn’t begin in a boardroom, tourism conference or business plan.
We met on a sailboat in the Western Cape of South Africa.
We had never met before that day.
Somewhere between the ocean, the setting sun and two people getting to know one another, something started.
Soon afterwards, we discovered something else we shared: we wanted to see more of the world together.
Then came the distance
Getting away became part of our relationship.
Normal life eventually took us back to opposite sides of the world.
That distance made the time we could spend together matter even more.
So we started travelling.
Not because we wanted to collect countries, but because getting away gave us uninterrupted time to walk, talk, explore, laugh, get lost, try something new and simply be together.
Brazil · 2026
Twenty days changed what travel meant to us.
With little money, plenty of uncertainty and a desire to build a different kind of life together, we chose Brazil.
We drove winding coastal roads. Found quiet beaches. Walked through jungle. Stopped when somewhere felt worth stopping.
And somewhere along the way we realised the moments we remembered most weren’t necessarily the famous attractions.
Brazil didn’t give us the idea for another travel website. It gave us the idea for Mango Getaway.
Why Mango exists
We wanted other couples to experience travel this way too.
A getaway can do more than take you somewhere new.
And eventually, come home with another piece of your story together.
The journey continues
Mango is being built while we’re exploring it too.
We’re still travelling. Still discovering. Still meeting people. Still finding roads, stays and experiences that make us turn to each other and say:
“We need to show people this.”
Mango Getaway is our way of bringing those discoveries back to couples looking for their own next shared experience.
